The director of the Al-Baghdadi sub-district in Anbar province, Sharhabil Al-Obaidi, announced on Saturday that more than 50 dunums of the pistachio crop have been planted in the western regions in an experiment that is the first of its kind in the province.
Al-Obaidi said in a statement to the "Information" agency that "the cultivated area of the pistachio crop in the Al-Baghdadi district in the district of Hit, west of Anbar, has reached more than 50 dunams, and it is hoped that other agricultural lands will be exploited after the success of the experience of cultivating pistachios in the western regions without any support from Governmental entities ".
He added, "The farmers of the district sold the first meal in the local markets, and this step is the first in encouraging the rest of the farmers to use their lands and plant them with pistachio plants."
Al-Obaidi explained, "The farmers of the district succeeded for the first time in cultivating this crop, in an indication of the appropriateness of its climate, as well as the fact that it contains groundwater." finished/ 12a
