On Wednesday, a member of the State of Law coalition, Aref Al-Hamami, ruled out attending the coordinating framework for the vote on the president of the republic in the event that the Kurdish parties did not agree to choose one candidate for the presidency.
Al-Hamami told the agency, "Information", that "in the event that there are no consensus and understandings within the Kurdish House and the selection of one agreed figure for the position of the presidency, it will be difficult to pass the voting session for the presidency."
He added, "The ball is currently in the court of the Kurdish parties, especially the Patriotic Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, so they must agree to come to Baghdad with one candidate," stressing that "after the Al-Yakti and Al-Party agreement on one figure, he will be presented to the rest of the political blocs, and the agreement and vote will be made for him to take over the position.
