Dhi Qar - Mawazine News
On Friday, the General Company for Iraqi Railways denied reports of the theft of stopped train cars in the city of Nasiriyah, the center of Dhi Qar governorate.
The company said in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of it, that it “would like to explain to you, in light of what was published on social media and some satellite channels under the title (Integrity: Controlling the theft of stopped train cars in Nasiriyah with the help of railway employees). Nasiriyah railway area that a committee of integrity visited the Nasiriyah train station to investigate the matter and did not find any evidence of the validity of the information circulated from the thief, who is approximately 12 years old.
According to the statement, "at the time, our legal representative was reviewed by the Integrity Department and the police station, and he did not notice any evidence to suggest that iron materials related to the vehicles had been stolen, and no lawsuit was registered against us by the integrity or the police station."
The company added in its statement that "the news is false, and there is no evidence to prove the authenticity of the information. It is just a slander and a false accusation, and the pictures that were published on social media pages are not of a locomotive at the Nasiriyah train station, but rather pictures of a locomotive at the Mosul train station, which was completely destroyed before." ISIS organization.
The statement vowed to prosecute "anyone who transgresses the Iraqi Railways General Company."
The Integrity Commission had announced, in an official statement, last Wednesday, the theft of train cars, and the seizure of hundreds of tons of iron.
And the Commission's Investigation Department reported that "the team of the Dhi Qar Investigation Office, after carrying out investigations, follow-up and monitoring work, was able to detect thefts in the stopped train cars in the city of Nasiriyah (Sayed Khader district)."
And it indicated that "a group of people dismantled the train cars in cooperation with some employees of the Nasiriyah railway station."
She added that "the operation resulted in the arrest of one of the accused while he was dismantling and loading iron structures from the train cars and transporting them to a site to store the stolen materials."
And she pointed out that "the owner of the storage site was arrested, and hundreds of tons of iron were seized at the site, including the iron structures that were stolen from the railway station."
She said that "fundamentalist seizure reports were organized in the operations carried out, based on judicial notes, and the defendants presented them to the Dhi Qar investigative court judge."
It added that the judge "decided to arrest the arrested suspects (...) and open an independent case against the employee responsible for protecting the site." Ended 29/R77
