    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

The number of Iraqis is steadily increasing with the increase in the number of annual states, at a time when there is nothing on the Iraqi horizon that shows the increase in infrastructure services and resources required by a country witnessing a rise in births and the number of women in this way, which warns of the danger of escalating poverty and conflicts over resources and the accumulation of people in homes And fixed areas and streets that the state does not expand.
Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Planning announced the registration of 1.3 million births in Iraq during the past year, while the ministry’s spokesman, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, indicated that the annual rates of increase in births, according to the approved ratio of 2.6, range from one thousand to 850 people as a minimum for the annual increase to one million population.
He pointed to the development of a set of long-term population policies to accommodate these increases so that they do not cause a burden on reality and development, meaning turning them into development engines after providing the requirements of life and empowering young people after the availability of basic services in life, foremost of which are education, health and housing.
He added that all of this was included in development plans with the integration of the population dimension into development plans, which was not previously implemented for the purpose of accommodating the number of increases in births, which included including the reality of women, equality and partnership with the private sector.

While Iraq recorded 1.3 million births during 2021, in 2020, it had recorded 1.25 births, which indicates an increase in the birth rate in Iraq by 4% compared to last year, while the population increased in just two years, about 2.6 million individuals.
After only 6 years, these numbers will need about 13,000 schools, and new housing that may reach half a million homes, as well as universities, hospitals, electricity and various infrastructure, and so on in the following year when the current year will witness more than a million new births.

Society rejects the idea of birth control
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Planning, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, said in a previous statement, "The ministry has not adopted any policy on birth control in the country because this issue faces many problems if it is implemented or legislated."
He added, "The ministry is counting on societal awareness in this regard in order to invest the annual increase in a positive aspect to achieve development and not make it a burden on the country."
And he indicated that "countries that have moved towards birth control policies are facing problems and there has become a gap in those societies, as they suffer from a lack of youthful capabilities capable of working, and they have become aging and aging societies, as it is described."
It is noteworthy that population policies are directly related to human development, through the development of skills in accordance with a clear economic vision, especially as the country is witnessing population increases that are not commensurate with the volume of resources with the expansion of the youth segment among the segments of the population, which should be transformed into a lever and a driving force for development.
Al-Hindawi pointed out that "the country is witnessing an annual population expansion, but it was not the same size as the increase nearly a decade ago, but it remained high compared to other countries."
