Iran's ambassador to Baghdad, Iraj Masjedi, announced the details of the recent talks between Tehran and Riyadh hosted by Baghdad, pointing to the two sides' agreement on a roadmap for future negotiations.

The Iranian ambassador in Baghdad said that "in the fifth round of the Iranian-Saudi talks, which was held Thursday between the delegations of the two sides, a roadmap for the future was discussed and agreed upon," explaining that "the two sides had proposals that were agreed upon after Thursday's meeting and it became a roadmap for the future."

Regarding whether the embassies of the two countries will be reopened, Masjedi explained that “future negotiations will determine whether the issue of reopening the two embassies will be achieved or not, and this will depend on the upcoming negotiations,” according to the official IRNA news agency.

The Iranian ambassador in Baghdad pointed out that “in the last round of talks, it was important for the two parties to have a framework of agreement for the future that was reached, and this is a positive criterion that illuminates the future course for both sides,” noting “the general agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, by saying that One of these agreements is related to “confidence-building, the second is bilateral measures and cooperation, such as the issues of Hajj and the issue of embassies of both sides, and the third issue is regional and international issues.”

The Iranian ambassador touched on the topic of International Quds Day and its importance in Iraq, saying that “the Iraqis have different programs at various levels on the International Quds Day every year to condemn the Zionist entity and support the oppressed people of Palestine, and this year, different programs will be held in several cities, including Friday night program for the Iraqi Supreme Council and dozens of other programs.

Masjedi added that “certainly the Iraqi people and many Iraqi sects and organizations will participate in the celebration of Al-Quds Day,” noting that the issue of normalization and its introduction in the region “will lead to a stronger presence of the Iraqi people in the marches and gatherings of the International Day of Al-Quds to denounce the settlement and the Zionists’ crimes in Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
