Interior Minister Othman Al-Ghanimi and US Ambassador Alina Romanovsky discussed, on Wednesday (July 6, 2022), cooperation and coordination in the security field.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement, "Interior Minister Othman Al-Ghanimi met today with the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanovsky," noting that "Al-Ghanimi welcomed his guest, and discussed with her a number of issues of mutual interest."
The statement added, "The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two countries, especially in the security field."
Al-Ghanimi stressed, according to the statement, "the agreements to combat terrorism and organized crime, including combating narcotics and psychotropic substances."
In another context, Al-Ghanimi pointed to "the need to work with international organizations working in Iraq in the field of migration," praising at the same time "the support provided by these organizations, especially in the humanitarian aspect."
For her part, Romanovsky praised the efforts of the Iraqi security forces and what they achieved in combating terrorism and crime and enhancing security and stability, stressing her country's keenness to develop relations between Iraq and America.
