A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Saleh Faki, confirmed, on Saturday, that his party will not accept the holding of elections in the Kurdistan region of Iraq in its current state.
In an interview with the Information Agency, Faki said, "If the election law is not amended and a new commission is elected, we will not accept holding the elections in their current state, because the only beneficiary is the Kurdistan Democratic Party."
He added, "The National Union wants to hold the elections according to the multi-constituency system as applied in the Iraqi elections, and we also want to clean the voter records of fraudsters before holding the Kurdistan elections."
A meeting of the Kurdish parties was recently held in Erbil, in the presence of the United Nations representative in Iraq, Jenin Plasschaert, but he did not reach understandings. finished/ 25
