Today, Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani renewed his support for holding elections for the parliament of the Iraqi Kurdistan region. He also welcomed the decision of the region’s presidency to set a date for next October to hold them.
Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi said in a statement received by Mawazine News, “Al-Sudani confirms support for holding elections for the parliament of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, and welcomes the decision of the region’s presidency to set a date for holding them next October.”
He added, "The government expresses its full readiness to support the requirements for the success of this electoral process, and to do everything to enhance the participation of our Kurdish people and the rest of the brotherly factions in the region."

The government affirms its support for efforts to revitalize the national dialogue between all national political forces in the region, and all movements seeking joint national action under the umbrella of the law, the constitution, and the national identity of our one Iraq, and through positive participation in democratic construction and the promotion of civil and societal peace, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and the rest of the regions.
