Today, Sunday, the Parliamentary Legal Committee revealed new details regarding the draft law on addressing housing abuses, which the House of Representatives started its first reading in a session yesterday, Saturday.

Committee member Aref Al-Hamami said, "The law was sent by the government to the parliament, and it was not parliament that prepared it, so the attack on the parliament is unfair."

Al-Hamami explained, "In the first reading of any law, no interventions or amendments are allowed, and that discussions take place after the second reading and before voting on it," noting that "the law will not pass this formula, but amendments will be made to its paragraphs."

He continued, "The law has a positive side, as it gives legality and legitimacy to transgressors, and rental prices must be symbolic, but it will be a guarantee for citizens, whether in providing alternative housing units for them, or ownership by whom the state is able to own."
