    [size=45]The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, called for building a "real" economic partnership and a "balanced" relationship between Iraq and the United States of America.[/size]
    [size=45]This came during Mandalawi's meeting, today, Tuesday (November 29, 2022), with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski.[/size]
    [size=45]According to a statement issued by the office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mandalawi received Romanowsky in his office today, to discuss a number of files and common issues.[/size]
    [size=45]During the meeting, they touched on the important agreements that bring the two countries together at various levels, and the desire to invest in them to build a balanced relationship and a real economic partnership that meets the interests of the two friendly peoples, and an emphasis on continuing coordination in the field of combating terrorism and extremism, as well as cooperation in the fields of armaments, health, environment and investment.[/size]
    [size=45]For her part, the US ambassador expressed her country's keenness to enhance cooperation with Iraq, and support it in restoring its effective role and important position in the Arab and regional spheres.[/size]
    [size=45]On October 15, Romanowski confirmed her country's work with the new Iraqi government, according to the terms of the strategic framework agreement that binds the two parties.[/size]
    [size=45]The US ambassador to Iraq said, in a statement: “The strategic framework agreement will guide our relations with the new Iraqi government,” indicating that “progress in achieving our common interests is important for the Iraqis,” and pointing to the aspiration for “an Iraq that fights corruption and creates job opportunities, a stable Iraq through security institutions.” A strong government, free of ISIS, and a resilient Iraq to deal with climate change.”[/size]
    [size=45]In 2008, Iraq signed a "strategic framework" agreement with the United States of America for partnership and cooperation between the two countries.[/size]
    [size=45]The executive agreement regulates the frameworks of political, security, economic, health and cultural relations between Baghdad and Washington, and the agreement imposes some obligations on the two contracting parties.[/size]
    [size=45]In accordance with the principles of the agreement, the United States of America is working to provide support to the Iraqi government in order to build a stable, democratic Iraq free from terrorism, in exchange for the Iraqi government providing facilities to the American forces present in Iraq, and ensuring their safety, to carry out their tasks.[/size]
    [size=45]The agreement included multiple provisions on joint cooperation in the field of security, economy, health and culture. According to the agreement, the United States works to train the Iraqi security forces and provide material support and advice to them in the security and military fields, as well as assist the Iraqi security forces in confronting any threat (at the request of the Iraqi government). In addition to supporting Iraq in building a strong and stable economy and achieving sustainable development[/size]
