The Minister of Agriculture also referred to the challenges facing the agricultural sector in Iraq resulting from the lack of water revenues, which he considered an obstacle to any agricultural investment, calling on the Turkish government to take the initiative to increase Iraq's water releases and alleviate the water crisis that caused the reduction of its agricultural areas to only fifty percent.
The minister stressed that such an initiative, if realized, would give a lot of positive impressions about the strength of relations and the will to develop them for the better.
For his part, Ali Reza Konay expressed his pride in the specificity of the Iraqi-Turkish relations and the common history of the two countries, as well as the importance of perpetuating and developing relations, especially in the agricultural aspect, for the benefit of the two neighboring peoples.
