A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Aref Al-Hamami, confirmed today, Saturday, that the budget will reach the House of Representatives before the end of this month, while he indicated that there are parliamentary efforts to legislate three important laws.
Al-Hamami stated, in a special statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "it is hoped that the draft federal financial budget law for the year 2023 from the prime minister will reach the parliament before the end of this month."
With regard to chairing the parliamentary committees, he indicated that "the House of Representatives voted to rename the parliamentary committees in place of the resigned deputies," noting that "the deputies who replaced the resigned deputies were not among the parliamentary committees, which necessitated a complete redistribution of the parliamentary committees and a vote on them.”
He added that "the heads of parliamentary committees will be voted on during the next week," noting that "the Parliamentary Legal Committee is working on drafting several bills, the most important of which are the social security bill, the retirement bill, in addition to the draft law (the chosen ones).
The Advisor to the Prime Minister for Financial Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, had previously explained the disbursement mechanism in the event of a delay in the 2023 budget legislation, while he expected its approval during the next month.
Saleh said, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Public finance continued to apply the exchange rule 1/12 of the total current expenditures achieved until the end of the fiscal year 2022, based on the provisions of Article 13 / First of the Federal Financial Management Law in force No. 6 of 2019 as amended.” ".
