Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce announced the launch of the largest campaign to supply the food basket items for those covered by social care, after the Council of Ministers’ decision to increase the supplies supplied to those covered by social care, which will be added to the food basket items.
The Minister of Commerce, Atheer Al-Ghurairy, said in a statement, "In implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, the Ministry of Commerce will launch tomorrow, Sunday, the largest campaign to supply the additional items of the food basket for those covered by social welfare families," noting that "the five items of the food basket will be prepared." The new ones that were added after the decision of the Council of Ministers, which are oil, sugar, milk, tea and flour.
Al-Ghurairy indicated that "the supply will be carried out through marketing centers in Baghdad and the provinces," stressing that "the ministry for the first time provides a good stock of the items of the food basket for the first months of 2023, and that its stores are full of ration card materials that are supplied to more than 41 million citizens in A government step to confront high prices and achieve food security.
He added that "the materials supplied to social welfare families and the general public are from good and sober international origins, which have already been examined through laboratory examination devices of the Ministry of Commerce," calling on "families covered by social care to review food agents in Baghdad and the provinces for the purpose of receiving their additional share allocated within Cabinet decision".
Al-Ghurairy affirmed, "The Ministry of Commerce's commitment to processing operations through a network of food agents deployed in Baghdad and the governorates, and that the Commercial and Financial Control Department in this ministry will carry out audits and monitoring of all foodstuff agents, and those who delay the processing process will be held accountable through deterrent measures taken by the Ministry in this aspect, because it issued Several statements aimed at speeding up the processing of foodstuffs and preventing any case of manipulation or deception of citizens during the processing process.
It is noteworthy that more than five million and one hundred thousand citizens are covered by the additional processing operations, and that more than a million other numbers will be added to the families covered by social care, after the campaign launched by the Prime Minister to include poor families who do not have a financial resource.
