Japanese loan to develop technical education for youth in Nineveh

Japan provided a loan of $250,000 to the Northern Technical University in Mosul to implement a program to enhance youth capacity in the field of technical education and resilience for peace in cooperation with UNESCO .
The Ambassador of Japan in Baghdad, Matsuo Moto, said: The efforts of the Japanese government will continue to support the Iraqi people, especially the province of Nineveh, which we know of the unfortunate events that happened to it due to the terrorist occupation of "ISIS", expressing his happiness with this cooperation with UNESCO and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in supporting The segment of young people who aspire to a better future, pointing out that there is a comprehensive plan aimed at developing technical universities in the footsteps of international universities .
In turn, UNESCO representative Paolo Fontati told Al-Sabah that the program integrates with other development projects adopted by the organization in order to support youth segments in Nineveh, especially in the fields of technical and vocational education, as well as focusing on the aspect of competence to reduce violence and extremism and build a culture of Peace .
For her part, the President of the Northern Technical University, Dr. Alia Al-Attar, said: UNESCO has supportive initiatives to link work with private sector companies and employ youth .
She added that the university will develop an integrated plan to raise the efficiency of young people, build their capabilities, and link technical education with the labor market, as well as enhance the quality and sobriety of technical education .
Al-Attar pointed out the need for more support to launch the university's plans, which require building workshops and halls for technical education and training students at a high level .
