Shafaq News/ Today, Thursday, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, chaired the second meeting of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the Association of Iraqi Banks, as well as other bodies; Taxes, customs, border crossings, and the central bank.
The meeting witnessed a discussion of the economic situation at the national level in light of the exchange rate fluctuations, and their effects on the Iraqi market. The implementation of the Cabinet's decisions related to taxes, customs, border crossings, and the work of banks was also followed up, and government measures regarding countering exchange rate fluctuations were reviewed, as well as the recommendations made at the last meeting.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the necessity of developing an assessment of the work of banks, and supporting real banks that have implemented the requirements of the Central Bank, and applied financial standards corresponding to the financial policies of the state. And Al-Sudani indicated, according to a statement by his office, that some banks and exchange offices do not achieve the desired contribution in establishing a regular and real national financial policy.

Al-Sudani directed the simplification of procedures for merchants' dealings in the concerned state departments, stressing that this stage, despite its criticality, is a gateway to economic reform.
He also stressed the need to spread the banking culture, which was supposed to be practiced years ago, so that merchants and businessmen are ready to deal with the new context of the central bank, and the international standards of the banking system.
The meeting witnessed an emphasis on the effectiveness of the new transfer system for commercial transactions, and its positive impact in reducing transactions with fake invoices that facilitated currency smuggling over the previous years.
