    Baghdad - Nas
On Thursday, "Nass" publishes the text of the statements of the Iraqi Foreign Ministers, Fouad Hussein, and the United States, Anthony J. Blinken, in Washington.

Below is the text of the statements, according to the text published on the official briefings section of the US administration:

Secretary Anthony J. Blinken and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein before their meeting

SECRETARY BLINKEN: It is a great pleasure to receive my old friend Fuad Hussein, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, here at the State Department in Washington. We've been together for many - many, many years. But it's always great to have you here.

But this is an important moment, an important meeting. We have a Strategic Framework Agreement with Iraq, but we are now focused very intensely on the economic dimension of that agreement and the work that we can do together, the United States and Iraq, to continue to strengthen the Iraqi economy and its integration and reintegration into the region in ways that make a material difference in the lives of the Iraqi people and the Iraqi citizen.

Special emphasis will be placed on energy and electricity. Iraq can and should be energy independent, and that's something that I think the United States and others can continue to support as Iraq moves in that direction.

This is the focus of our conversations, but I would also say that President Biden had a very good conversation with the Sudanese Prime Minister just a few days ago, and we look very much forward with the Prime Minister to strengthen the strategic partnership that unites Iraq and the United States.

    heart.

FOREIGN MINISTER HUSSEIN: Thank you very much, and thank you, Tony. Thank you for your friendship - a personal friend, but also a friend of the Iraqi people. Thank you very much for your support in the fight against ISIS. And we worked together, we fought together, we defeated the so-called Islamic State together, and we will continue to work together on the basis of building and rebuilding our economy. And with your support and with the support of American companies - we need your support in various fields and we will continue our cooperation.

Thank you very much for your time and for having us here.

SECRETARY BLINKEN: Thank you, my friend.

Foreign Minister Hussein: Thank you. bye bye".
