Earth News/ The legal expert, Amir Al-Daami, explained today, Sunday, the possibility of merging the parliamentary and local elections.
Al-Daami stated to Earth News Agency, “The merger of the Parliament elections with the provincial council elections is not permissible, given that the constitution stipulates in Article 49 that the Council of Representatives be elected with a specific mechanism, which is that every 100,000 people elect one deputy and it has a special law that differs from the representation of the provincial councils in Article 122".
He added, "This in itself is a violation of the constitution, because the provincial councils cannot be considered as important as the mechanism for electing the House of Representatives. Therefore, this merger is not permissible, given that the tasks of the House of Representatives are completely different from the tasks of the provincial councils."
