Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi confirmed today, Sunday, that the merger of the laws of provincial elections and parliament does not constitute a constitutional violation.
Al-Tamimi said, in an interview with the official newspaper, "Al-Sabah", which was followed by Mawazine News, that "the draft law merging the laws of the provincial elections and parliament is still in the first reading and is subject to amendment, and the parliament is the one who will vote on it and take the necessary action if there are problems.”
He added, "The merger of the two laws does not constitute a constitutional violation because the provincial councils that are not organized in a region basically enjoy the local legislative capacity, so it is permissible to combine the two laws, and this is in effect in many countries.” Ended 29/N33
