    Economy News-Baghdad
Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Environment announced the start of amending the approvals for the opening of factories and factories, and while it submitted a proposal to prevent pollution of residential areas, it indicated that there is government coordination to convert the brick factories into environmentally friendly ones.
The Director General of Technical Affairs in the Ministry, Issa Al-Fayyad, told the Iraqi News Agency, which was seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the outskirts of the capital, Baghdad, have brick factories and factories, especially in the Nahrawan region," noting that "environmental approvals within the special law for the opening of these factories include determining a distance between the factory and residential areas, but the law did not specify a distance between one factory and another, and this represents a defect in the law.”
He added that "the instructions for granting approvals need to be amended, and the ministry is currently working on that," noting that "the population increase and the encroachment of areas in Baghdad made it close to these factories, whose locations were previously identical."
He stated that "some factories and factories cannot be closed, such as the Dora refinery, which is 10 km away from residential areas," pointing out that "some governorates decided to move the brick factories to other areas, but part of the locations of these factories is incorrect, as it has become inside cities." ".
He continued, "Building malls, investment projects, and industrial cities inside residential areas is incorrect," suggesting that "an urban planning company handle this problem."
And he indicated that "the ministry is studying the conversion of brick factories to environmentally friendly ones," explaining that "there is coordination with the Ministry of Industry in this regard by granting incentive sums of money to factory owners or loans with the aim of converting them into environmentally friendly ones that reduce emissions."
He stressed: "We held meetings with the owners of laboratories, and they expressed their support for converting their laboratories into environmentally friendly ones, provided that they are using modern scientific methods," pointing out that "until now, no agreement has been reached on an appropriate environmentally friendly mechanism and technology."
He stressed that "the issue was raised internationally, and we are currently studying the procedures in this regard," noting that "it is not possible to move the factories now, because the transfer of the factories requires an alternative location."
