Baghdad / Obelisk: Baghdad / Obelisk: The head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party stressed the necessity of holding elections during the current year, indicating at the same time that there are no justifications preventing them from being held.
Barzani explained, during an interview with Al-Monitor, that there is no other option but to hold elections, while expressing optimism that the political parties will meet and agree on common points in this regard.
President Barzani indicated that the positive atmosphere that surrounded the recent talks between the federal government and the region on the budget could lead to talks on an oil law.
Barzani welcomed the agreement brokered by China between Iran and Saudi Arabia, saying, “Of course, we would like to see an end to the tension between the countries of the region. Iran and Saudi Arabia are two important countries in the region.”
