    On Thursday, the Ministry of Commerce announced the distribution of large quantities of food supplies and Ramadan baskets to citizens and those covered by social care, while three new marketing centers in the governorates will be opened during the next two days.

    The official spokesman for the ministry, Muhammad Hanoun, said in a statement to the official newspaper, followed by “Nass” (March 30, 2023), that “the ministry had previously contracted with private sector companies for a period of five years to supply and supply ration card materials at cost, instead of waiting for financial allocation procedures and approvals from the authorities.” concerned".  
      
    He added, "There are 7 ration card rations that have been prepared by companies, while approximately 460,000 tons of wheat and 125,000 tons of rice will be distributed, and other large quantities of food within the Ramadan basket after examining and preserving it in stores, and the number is 4 items, in addition to the basket." The monthly food supply, which is 7 basic materials, and delivered to agents in the regions.  
      
    Hanoun pointed out that "the families covered by social care have been provided with foodstuffs since the beginning of Ramadan, which number 7 million families, as 16 foodstuffs were distributed, which are 7 items within the basic ration card, 5 additional items and 4 items within the Ramadan basket."  
      
    And Hanoun stated that "the marketing centers are a new experience aimed at reducing the high prices of foodstuffs in the local markets, as 3 outlets have been opened in Baghdad, and they are currently preparing to open 3 other new outlets during the next two days in the governorates of Maysan, Dhi Qar and Nineveh after processing them by the contracting companies." With it, as well as the opening of other centers within the ministry's plans in all governorates, districts and sub-districts.  
      
    He pointed out, "the continuation of the work of marketing centers after the month of Ramadan, and their transformation into large associations to serve poor families and those with limited income."  
      
    Hanoun affirmed, "The monitoring teams, the National Security Agency and the Organized Crime Department will continue to follow up efforts to limit the price hike in the local markets and take legal measures against violators."  
      
    He stated that "there are preparations being made to supply 3 million bags of flour within the second share of the current year, with the intensification of campaigns by the control and inspection teams on mills and agents to follow up on the qualitative examination of this substance," calling on citizens "to report violations and manipulation of the quality of flour and the quantities supplied and to ensure that the mill is sealed." producer of flour and its date upon receipt.
