The Ministry of Commerce is preparing to launch the food basket for the month of Ramadan, announcing that it has a stock of foodstuffs equivalent to four rations for the food basket, while providing a stock of wheat amounting to one million tons.
In the meantime, the Federal Ministry of Trade held a meeting with its counterpart in the region, regarding the delivery of the food basket on time, to its beneficiaries in Kurdistan.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Muhammad Hanoun, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": that his ministries are preparing to launch the food basket for the month of Ramadan in Baghdad and all governorates to support poor families, revealing that they have a good store of foodstuffs sufficient for four portions for the food basket, while providing up to He added that the port of Umm Qasr received a ship loaded with more than 561 tons of milk weighing 250 grams (Altunsa), which will be distributed according to the marketing plan among all governorates within the food basket for those covered by the protection network. He stressed the ministry's readiness to increase outlets to sell basic materials to citizens at reduced prices.In the same context, Hanoun pointed out to the continuation of the follow-up campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Interior’s teams for local markets and shops for the sale of foodstuffs, with the aim of holding monopolists accountable as a contribution to limiting the increase in prices during the blessed month of Ramadan and alleviating the citizen’s burden. He added that the teams were caught in coordination with the Organized Crime Directorate. The Ministry of the Interior has 120 bags of flour produced this month, and 98 cartons of tomato paste intended for the food basket within the local markets in the holy governorates of Karbala and the honorable Najaf, and legal measures are taken against the violators.
In addition, the Federal Ministry of Trade held a meeting with its counterpart in the region regarding the delivery of the food basket during the appropriate dates to its beneficiaries in Kurdistan.
