Today, Saturday, the American Media Broadcasting Organization concerned with press affairs revealed the existence of what it said was "a decline in democracy and a return to a dictatorial regime in the regions of western Iraq," confirming the arrests of critics of local officials in those provinces.
The American organization said through its network, according to what was translated by (Baghdad Today), that Iraqi youth in the western governorates, especially the regions of Anbar and Fallujah, have been subjected continuously and for months to "arrest and threat" operations that affect anyone who talks about political affairs or criticizes influential figures in the state from within. those provinces.
It quoted Iraqi youth from within the province asserting, "The only advantage of the emerging democracy in Iraq is the freedom of expression of opinion. This freedom is now lost in western Iraq, with local authorities and influential state officials tending to detain, arrest and threaten anyone who dares to criticize their performance." ".
And she continued, "The infringement of human rights and freedom of expression has exceeded the number of arrests and restrictions, and has reached the point of clamping down on women, who until recently played an important role in public life in the regions of Anbar and Fallujah, but now they are being exploited and reluctant," according to her description.
Women who obtain positions from the women's quota, representing those provinces, usually find themselves "just a name and a number in the Iraqi parliament that is exploited by political parties that exploit them to obtain additional seats in parliament."
