Today, Monday, the Federal Ministry of the Interior announced the arrest of drug-trafficking groups with links to several countries, while indicating the signing of memorandums of understanding with Saudi Arabia and countries in the region to combat cross-border crimes.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, said, "There are crimes that are considered international crimes that cross borders, such as human and drug trafficking crimes, as drugs come from one country to another," pointing out that "most of the countries from which drugs come are Afghanistan, and also through the Republic." As for the psychotropic substances (pills), they come through Lebanon and Syria, and so they come and pass by their nature, crossing borders.

Al-Muhanna added, "These crimes previously required contact with the countries of the region, discussions, and making joint agreements and joint memorandums of understanding, and this is what the Ministry of Interior did in the last period, as the ministry worked out memorandums of understanding with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as all countries in the region."

He continued, "These efforts and cooperation in the field of drug control resulted in the arrest of groups with links in several countries," noting that "in these countries we do not mean the issue is related to policies and governments, but rather they are groups that facilitate matters between countries to pass these goods and quantities of drugs."
