    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The Ministry of Agriculture announced that an expected governmental decision will be issued next Monday concerning peasants and farmers.
"In the past three marketing seasons, the barley crop was not included in the marketing plan, but this year the Minister of Agriculture submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers to include it in marketing," the ministry's spokesman, Muhammad al-Khuzai, said in a televised statement this evening.
He added, "There is a meeting of the Economic Ministerial Council next Monday, and we expect approval of marketing (barley)."
Al-Khuzaie pointed out that "the price of barley has been set at 500,000 dinars per ton," noting that "the crop is part of government support for fodder."
Al-Khuzaie pointed to "loans to support the farmer to buy water sprinklers, and they are interest-free, provided that they are repaid within 5 years," noting that "with the approval of the budget, the loans will be released."
