Parliamentary Committee: The Ministry of Agriculture does not meet the basic needs of farmers

A member of the Parliament’s Agriculture, Water and Marshes Committee, Thaer Makhaif Al-Kitab, criticized the Ministry of Agriculture for not meeting the basic needs of farmers.
Al-Kitab said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The Ministry of Agriculture has not yet met the needs of farmers and farmers for fertilizers and pesticides, which exposes fields and agricultural crops to various diseases," adding that "the high prices of fertilizers prompted some farmers to refrain from farming." .
The deputy pointed out that "the price of one ton of al-Dab fertilizer has reached more than one million dinars, and such an amount is not appropriate in terms of the economic feasibility of agriculture," calling for "the need to reduce prices."
A member of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee considered the policy of some of the ministry's directors to be utilitarian on the issue of urea fertilizer, pointing out that "some directors seek to create crises to raise the price of fertilizer in the markets, and this issue is totally rejected."
He added, "The Agriculture Committee seeks to eliminate corruption in the ministry, so that we can reach effective results to advance the status of agriculture."
