A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Hamid Al-Shablawi, confirmed that Iraqi law prevents the assignment of government projects to companies affiliated with officials in the state, whether through supervision or assignment.
Al-Shiblawi said in a press interview seen by Taqaddam that “the governor or official is not allowed to transfer state projects and exploit his job position to companies affiliated with him.”
And he added, "In the event that the companies belong to the relatives of the official, the law deals with fulfilling the conditions, so that no violations occur in these projects due to the relationship of kinship, and this results in favoritism and facilitation of procedures."
The Federal Integrity Commission had announced, earlier, the recruitment of the governor of Dhi Qar, on the charge of abusing a job position, by referring contracts from government agencies to implement projects to one of the contracting and consulting companies he owns.
