    Information / Baghdad...
Drought levels have reached large proportions, although they vary from one province to another, due to the lack of water releases from Turkey and the neighbor's indifference to the scale of the disaster that Iraq is suffering from.

Drought struck many rivers and branches in the governorates, especially the southern ones, which suffer from a suffocating crisis that reached drinking water, which represents an existential threat to the Iraqis, after Turkey was able to kill and eliminate agriculture, due to the lack of real deterrent measures for what the neighbor is doing.
The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, said in a televised interview, followed by Al-Maalouma, that "the Tigris River is currently witnessing a significant decrease in its level, attributing this to the lack of water releases from neighboring countries, and the excesses of some farmers on the river basin, while they continue to water using traditional irrigation methods, and waste Water from a fish farmer.

Diab added, "The 14 dams recommended to be built by the expert of the Ministry of Water Resources are for harvesting rain and torrential waters in desert areas."
The minister affirmed the intention of the Ministry of Water Resources to update the study recommended by the expert in accordance with climate changes and the projects that have been implemented within the Tigris and Euphrates river basins, whether in Iraq or within.
On the other hand, the advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Mahdi Al-Qaisi, stressed, during his interview with Al-Maalouma, "the need for the competent authorities to initiate important negotiations with Turkey to obtain water shares, pressure it economically, and review the trade balance with it."
He added, "Iraq needs a high-level negotiating delegation to pressure the upstream countries and obtain water, especially as they have reduced the water revenues that reach Iraq."
He pointed out that "Iraq has reached dead reserves during the current period, that is, to the stage of (scarcity) water, not its scarcity."

On the other hand, the representative of the State of Law coalition, Jassem Al-Alawi, told Al-Maalouma that "Iraq's water resources have decreased by 50 percent due to drought periods."
He added, "The government has put in its priorities the treatment of the water file in modern ways by establishing seawater desalination plants and exploiting groundwater to save the reality of the situation instead of wasting water in a chaotic manner." ended 25 n
