    Economy News _ Baghdad
On Thursday, the Ministry of Electricity confirmed the stability of the energy situation in the country, and while it announced a delay in importing energy from Turkey, it set the start date for the smart transformation project for the grid in Baghdad.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, said in a press interview, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the volume of energy produced and daily energy rates is currently 24,000 megawatts, and the system is witnessing recovery and stability in production after a number of measures that the ministry followed, whether in generating units or transmission lines."
He added, “The improvement is clear and includes all governorates, while processing some of them reaches 16 hours and others less than that.” Because of the existing bottlenecks that the Ministry of Electricity is working to address by installing mobile and fixed stations or creating feeders to increase supply hours,” explaining, “Karbala, Najaf, and Babil are witnessing an increase in their shares, given that they are witnessing the peak of the fortieth visit of Imam Hussein.
Regarding the electronic collection process, Musa indicated that “the smart transformation project for the network will be discussed with the Prime Minister for the first and second time in order to reach a decision. The project is in the form of experiments and a study of the extent of success in them, and then it will be circulated to other regions.
Regarding supplying Iraq with energy from Turkey, Moussa confirmed, "The electrical connection with Turkey has been completed, but the energy prices are not suitable for Iraq, so it was necessary to wait for the Iraqi-Turkish connection to enter into force."
Regarding the discussions about linking with Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, Moussa explained, “The connection with Jordan will enter the first phase in the next few days and ranges from 50 to 150 megawatts. It will be through the Al-Rishah station towards Al-Qaim,” explaining, “The first phase is ready from the Iraqi and Jordanian sides, and the connection will enter into force soon. As for the second phase, the supply will reach 250 megawatts, and in the third phase, the supply will reach 960 megawatts.”
He pointed out, "The Iraqi-Saudi connection has reached advanced stages, and it was agreed to identify a specialized consultant for this link, in addition to signing a memorandum of understanding," noting that "the work of examining and defining tracks and linking points began as a first stage between the two countries."
