On Friday, the representative of the Al-Sadiqoun Bloc, Zahra Al-Bajari, praised the Federal Court’s decision to cancel the Khor Abdullah Agreement and redraw the borders with Kuwait. While she described the decision as historic, she called on the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to respond to the statements of the Kuwaiti side regarding granting sums of money to some Iraqi officials in exchange for signing The agreement.
Al-Bajari said in a statement, a copy of which was received by Mawazine News, that “the decision of the Federal Supreme Court to cancel the decision of the Khor Abdullah Agreement and the demarcation of the borders is considered a historic decision added to the court’s decisions that contributed to preserving the supreme interests of Iraq,” indicating that this decision will contribute to changing the direction of the government and its policies in dealing with it. With the unfair agreement that squandered Iraq’s right to maritime navigation.”
She added, "The Iraqi government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are required before the people and parliament to stand firmly for Iraq's rights and reconciliation, and they must clarify the statements made by some representatives of the Kuwaiti National Assembly regarding accusations of paying billions in order to pass that notorious agreement, in addition to the escalation of the language of betrayal that has appeared." In their speeches, she described Iraq as a traitorous and treacherous neighbor, stressing that these are unacceptable terms that must be responded to firmly.”
Al-Bajari pointed out that “Iraq after 2003 is committed to preserving the principle of good neighborliness and common interests and building friendly relations based on mutual respect.”
She explained that “the Iraqi people do not accept compromising Iraq’s interests or encroaching on its borders,” while pointing out that the Federal Court’s decision is binding and work will be done on it. “Agreement with the Kuwaiti side to restore the legitimate rights of Iraq.”
