MP Ali Turki considered, on Monday, the statements of the US Ambassador to Iraq irresponsible and infringing on the country's sovereignty, calling on the government to prevent her interference.
Turki said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "The ill-fated American ambassador practices malicious methods and wants to stir up chaos with such statements in order to find other justifications for the continued presence of her forces in Iraq."
He added, "There must be official positions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and political forces condemning these statements that seek to distort the facts," calling on "the Minister of Foreign Affairs to summon this ambassador and address her with a strongly worded speech for crossing diplomatic boundaries."
He explained that "not responding to such statements would be tantamount to giving the green light to keep all their forces inside the country," noting that "these statements are irresponsible and affect the country's sovereignty."
The US Ambassador to Iraq stated via the X platform: “On the International Day of Peace, we remember that threats to Iraq’s security, stability and sovereignty still exist.” End 25 min
