    Baghdad today - follow-up 
    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said that the presence of international coalition forces in Iraq since 2014 is one of the important and sensitive issues whose fate must be determined.
    The Iranian Tasnim News Agency quoted Al-Sudani as saying, during his meeting with a number of Iranian journalists in his office in Baghdad, that “Iraq’s security capacity exists in the police, army, Popular Mobilization Forces, etc., so that it can guarantee the security of Iraq today.”
    The Prime Minister indicated, "The government has the right, on behalf of all political groups in Iraq, to ​​consider removing the presence of the international coalition and formulate a plan for that."
    Al-Sudani also announced, “The Iraqi Minister of Defense visited Washington to conduct negotiations regarding the exit of foreign forces from Iraq.”
    The Prime Minister stated, in response to Tasnim’s question regarding the follow-up of the assassination of Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis: With regard to targeting the leaders, there was a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty, and we are serious in pursuing this issue.
    He stressed, “The legal follow-up to the assassination of leaders is one of the projects pursued by the Judicial Council and the Iraqi government, and for this issue we have formed a committee in the presence of security inspectors who provide all information, and many correspondences and visits are conducted in this field to present documents in legal forums,” noting that he “fully supports The entire joint Iranian-Iraqi legal committee on this issue.”
    The Prime Minister's Media Office announced yesterday, Friday (September 8, 2023), that "Al-Sudani received in his office a delegation of journalists and media professionals representing various media outlets in the Islamic Republic of Iran."
    Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, the pioneering and pivotal role of Iraq in the region, and its adoption of a policy of bringing regional viewpoints together, in an effort to enhance security and stability, as well as the government’s approach to building integrated economic partnerships with countries of the region and the world, indicating that historical relations between countries of the region can be a key. For the stability and prosperity of its people.”
    For its part, the Iranian press delegation thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception, and praised the efforts of Iraq, the government and people, in hosting millions of Iranian and foreign visitors, stressing that the great organization witnessed by the visit to commemorate the Arba’een of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) during this year reflects the interest And the highest levels of concern towards this great occasion in the souls of Muslims.”
