Planning: The women’s economic empowerment plan will soon be launched

The Ministry of Planning revealed the imminent launch of the women's economic empowerment plan.
Maha Abdul Karim Al-Rawi, Director General of the Ministry’s Human Development Department, told Al-Sabah: “The plan was prepared by an advisory committee headed by the Minister of Planning, Muhammad Tamim, and membership of the Women’s Empowerment Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement, and the Strategic Working Group Committee.” It is headed by the Director General of the Women’s Empowerment Department and other partner parties, as it is implemented within the Mashreq Initiative, which includes three countries: Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon,” noting that “the second phase of it has been completed.”
She added, "Work is now underway to approve the third phase of the plan, which will be launched soon in cooperation with the World Bank."
She explained, “The aim of this plan is to advance women’s economic status and increase their participation and access to sources of financing and the labor market. It includes a number of pillars such as data, knowledge, inclusion, gender-responsive budgeting, the childcare economy, legal legislation, and preferential contracts.”
Al-Rawi continued, “A special axis for human development and poverty reduction will be addressed in the national plan 2023-2027 that the ministry is preparing, and working on a policy to improve human capital in Iraq, in addition to examining all dimensions of human development, specifically education, health, social protection, and employment.” Pointing out that it is still in the stage of analyzing reality and drawing the basic features of policy preparation.
