The economic researcher, Ziad Al-Hashemi, considered the Central Bank’s recent measures, including opening a “lounge” to sell dollars to travelers, and increasing interest rates to encourage citizens to save their money, as formal solutions that do not deal with the roots of the problem, so that the monetary imbalance and the risks of rising exchange rates and commodity prices will continue without real intervention from the Central Bank. To solve it.
Al-Hashemi said in a post on the “X” platform, followed by “ NEWS ”, that “the governor of the Iraqi Central Bank (disclaims responsibility) for causing rises in the dollar exchange rates, and blames it on smuggling operations, local trade, and lack of control over the ports.
He added, “Instead of announcing effective and realistic solutions that deal with the reasons he mentioned for the rise in exchange rates, the governor announced the opening of a (lounge) to sell dollars to travelers, and increasing interest rates to "" 7.5% "" to encourage citizens to save their money.”
He continued, “This confirms that the Iraqi Central Bank is still insisting on implementing (formal) solutions that do not deal at all with the roots of the problem, so that the monetary imbalance and the risks of rising exchange rates and commodity prices will continue without real intervention from the Central Bank to solve them."

A real intervention is likely to take place and quickly. The daily remittances we witnessed today, again, imo is andicator they need to be careful and just how much information they can give out now. Them telling us in detail on specifics of ongoings, must have been wake up call.. lol
The opening of the outlets to sell dollars and other currencies at the airports is also an indicator that once they adjust to an international exchange rate those the still need dollars can easily do so. Controls on the ports is getting better and better. They have a new system that will interlink the region and the finanical systems when all said and done. imo ~ MM
