The Iranian Foreign Minister revealed how to solve the Palestinian issue politically, stressing that it must be addressed fundamentally.
Hussein Amir Abdollahian said, during telephone discussions on Monday with Vatican Foreign Minister Paul Richard Gallagher: “We believe that the Palestinian issue must be solved fundamentally,” considering that the political path to that lies in “holding a general referendum in cooperation with the United Nations, and with the participation of... All the indigenous inhabitants of Palestine, including Muslims, Christians and Jews.
He expressed his opinion regarding "the continuation of the Israeli attacks on the defenseless people of the Gaza Strip, and the need to accelerate the pace of efforts aimed at resolving the crisis politically," pointing to the content of the letter he recently sent to the Vatican Foreign Minister about the deteriorating humanitarian situation inside Gaza.
The Iranian Foreign Minister appreciated the positions of his Vatican counterpart and Pope Francis, which he described as “responsible,” stressing the need to continue in this direction.
For his part, the Vatican Foreign Minister stressed, in this call, the necessity of a political solution, a ceasefire, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, according to Mehr Agency. End 25
