    Baghdad Today - Translation
Today, Sunday (December 3, 2023), The Times of Israel reported the details of the phone call that took place yesterday between Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, confirming that the Sudanese government issued a “warning” to Washington of the consequences of its continued targeting of factions inside the country. .
The newspaper said, according to what Baghdad Al-Youm translated, that Al-Sudani “warned” Blinken against carrying out further “response operations” through which it strikes the sites from which attacks are launched against its bases in Iraq, noting that “the last of these attacks occurred on the 22nd.” Last November, it led to the injury of nine members of one of the factions that fired missiles against an American base.
She continued, “Blinken’s call with Al-Sudani indicates Washington’s concern about the return of missile attacks and strikes with marches against its forces after the end of the truce period between Hamas and Israel,” stressing that “the active factions inside Iraq are now “threatening” the American presence, which recently rose from 2,500 soldiers, to more than 2,500 soldiers. More than three thousand.
It is noteworthy that the newspaper’s report also confirmed that Al-Sudani informed Blinken that his government “is committed to protecting the missions of foreign forces present in Iraq,” explaining that “any American attacks against the factions “represent a violation” of Iraqi sovereignty, without mentioning the US Secretary of State’s reaction to Al-Sudani’s position. .
