The Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, stressed on Sunday evening the need for the international community to bear its responsibility regarding the Israeli massacres in the besieged Gaza Strip since the seventh of last October.
This came while Al-Sudani received, in his office in the capital, Baghdad, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, according to a statement.
During the meeting, developments in the escalating events in the Gaza Strip were discussed, and the need to contain the crisis and ensure that it does not expand was emphasized. The deteriorating humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people was also discussed, and the importance of coordination and work to deliver supplies of food, water, medical care, and other required assistance was emphasized. To meet the humanitarian needs of the people.
Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq's clear and principled position of rejecting the “Zionist aggression” against Gaza, and the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, and opening the crossings to avoid the worsening humanitarian catastrophe, which has claimed the lives of civilians, women and children.
The Iraqi Prime Minister stressed the need for the international community to bear its responsibility “for the massacres committed daily by Israeli forces against innocent women and children, the targeting of hospitals and shelters, and the continued approach of escalation and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.”
For his part, Blinken affirmed the United States of America’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the population in the Gaza Strip, noting his country’s government’s desire to continue bilateral coordination and cooperation with Iraq. In order to enhance regional and international stability.
