Northern Oil: Development plans to increase production and sustain productive fields

The North Oil Company revealed plans to develop its production by rehabilitating and maintaining wells in its fields and including a number of them in the upcoming licensing rounds.
Director of the North Oil Company, Engineer Burkan Hassan Abdullah, told “Al-Sabah”: The company has development plans centered on the maintenance, rehabilitation and reclamation of wells for the purpose of sustaining production and focuses on the Hamrin and Ajil fields, in addition to the Nineveh fields in which the wells need reclamation.
He added that there are fields with undeveloped wells that need exploration, development, and attention. They have been included in our plans to include them in the upcoming licensing rounds after submitting a proposal on that, and thus contribute to increasing production.
Abdullah pointed out the presence of the company’s fields in three governorates of Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Salah al-Din, in addition to transmission lines in Anbar Governorate, which includes 1,152 wells, most of which are for oil and gas production. He indicated that the company’s oil is of the type desired by local refineries and the entities to which it exports, as it is of high purity. After carrying out treatment operations on it, because the oil extracted from the wells contains things that are undesirable in local and export refineries, such as sulfur, and it is processed in the treatment department, salts and water in the production department, so that it meets international specifications, which achieves economic returns.
Abdullah noted that there are fields in the governorates of Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, and Nineveh that require stations to establish, maintain, rehabilitate and reclaim wells for the purpose of raising production. Thus, we need to activate the uninvested and new fields and discover others and add them within the licensing rounds, indicating that the company currently has the Al-Kayyara field within the licensing rounds.
