Today, Saturday (January 6, 2024), Member of Parliament Salah Zeini revealed the appointment of teenagers in government institutions in contravention of all official controls and instructions.
Zaini said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "Our war against corruption in Diyala continues despite the pressure imposed by influential parties to close it from time to time, but on the other hand, there are many files that will be referred for integrity very soon."
He added, "One of the files that we monitored is the existence of tampering with regional development appointments and leaving the records of the Diyala Office open, and after the integrity was revealed and confirmed after the records were seized, the file was closed in a way that raises many question marks despite all the evidence."
He continued, "We were surprised that the appointments issued a week before the local elections for contract holders included very large numbers of names who in 2019 were teenagers and 15-16 years old," wondering, "How were they contracted and how did they now receive retroactive salaries?"
He pointed out that "the file is large, and integrity has a duty to inform public opinion of the truth about what happened and to answer the question of how it is possible to contract with teenagers and then pay retroactive salaries to them later."
The year 2019 witnessed large numbers of contract appointments being made in conjunction with the October demonstrations, who were later adapted in accordance with Resolution 315.
