Minister of Labor: We have completed issuing smart cards to more than 900,000 social protection beneficiaries

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Al-Assadi, announced the completion of the issuance of smart cards to more than 900,000 social protection beneficiaries during the year 2023, pointing out that the ministry will continue to issue smart cards to those included in the sixth meal supplement.
Al-Asadi explained in a press conference held at the Ministry’s headquarters on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, the following:
• Today we announce the launch of 63,144 new smart cards, which will be part of the sixth meal supplement.
• We completed social research procedures for more than two million and 100 thousand families in 2023.
• We announce the continuation of the social search for applicants for inclusion in social protection through the electronic window.
• We announce the launch of the Mazalati platform with great smoothness, after it was stopped before the election period due to misuse by some people.
• All applicants and those covered by social protection can view all their details via the Mazalati platform.
• We completed, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, the distribution of student scholarships to more than 1,850,000 students for three months, retroactively.
• We will distribute the scholarship to students for the months (January and February) after the Ministry of Education completes its procedures regarding the final number of students.
• We completed the procedures for inclusion in the livelihood service for more than 2,800 social protection beneficiaries (which is a service related to granting loans to those covered by social protection).
• We have a financial allocation for the year 2024 estimated at 400 billion dinars for soft loans, 100 billion of which will be loans to serve livelihoods for those covered by social protection.
• We have achieved an increase in the number of people covered by health insurance, bringing the number of beneficiaries to 183 thousand beneficiaries in Baghdad, and in the coming weeks we will work to gradually include all beneficiaries with health insurance.
• Those covered by social protection must visit health centers for the purpose of opening and issuing health records for them.
• We have completed data for approximately 6 million and 700 thousand beneficiary individuals for the purpose of including them in the food basket.
• The number of prepared food baskets for the year 2023 reached approximately 60 million food baskets.
• We will launch the shopping service for those covered by social protection from the marketing complexes affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce, starting February 1, 2024.
• The percentage of discount for shopping from the marketing outlets affiliated with the trade reaches from 10-40%, and has been specified for (needy families 10%, widows and divorcees 20%, disabled and disabled people 40%).
• We launched the (Iraq My Identity) service to issue national cards free of charge to those covered by social protection, by decision of the Council of Ministers, and it will be implemented starting from 1/11/2024.
• The (We Bring You Home) campaign provided its services to more than 7,000 disabled and disabled beneficiaries, and this campaign will continue to reach all those who deserve it.
• We launched the “Construction Basket” service for those covered by social protection to purchase building materials.
• We grant loans to beneficiaries registered in the (construction basket) amounting to 10 million dinars, and they are paid in installments from social aid amounts.
• In recent days, we launched the “Thresholds” campaign, which is a free transportation campaign for those covered by social protection to visit the holy religious shrines, and includes transportation, all hotel services, and food.
• Soon we will launch a Tawaf campaign to conduct delegations of those covered by social protection to Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque.
