    Economy News - Baghdad

[rtl]Today, Sunday, a member of the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshlands Committee, Thaer Makhif, revealed the contents of a bilateral plan to increase green spaces in Iraq, while the drought crisis is not “the product of the moment.”[/rtl]

[rtl]Al-Jubouri said in an interview followed by “Al-Iqtisad News” that “the drought crisis in Iraq is not the result of this stage, but rather extends over many decades, but it has worsened in recent years for multiple reasons, putting strong pressure and threatening life in large areas of the country, especially in light of its direct impact on the agricultural sector and wealth.” livestock and the loss of the livelihoods of thousands of families.”[/rtl]

[rtl]He added, "The Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources are aware of the magnitude of the risks resulting from the water crisis and have begun activating a joint plan to increase green spaces through seasonal plans by reducing waste and using modern irrigation frameworks to exploit the desert through large reserves of groundwater."[/rtl]

[rtl]He pointed out that "we cannot witness development in Iraq without agriculture through the practical application of the principle of food security, which contributes to reducing the export of hard currency abroad in order to secure the markets’ needs for crops and seeking to bring money back to the country through increasing investments that ensure the provision of more job opportunities." Not to mention achieving the principle of self-sufficiency.”[/rtl]

[rtl]Iraq has suffered from a drought crisis in recent years, which has led to repeated reductions in seasonal plans at very high rates.[/rtl]
