Baghdad: Al-Sabah,

the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, yesterday, Tuesday, directed the formation of an investigative committee into allegations of bribery and money in the session to elect the new Speaker of Parliament. According to a document issued by Al-Mandalawi’s office, “It was decided to form an investigative committee headed by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Rebwar Hadi Abdel-Rahim. The committee will investigate the issue of offering financial sums to members of the Council in order to vote on one of the candidates for the Presidency of the House of Representatives in Session No. (1) of First legislative term/third legislative year, fifth parliamentary session, held on
1/13/2024.”
