The Minister of Justice, Khaled Shawani, confirmed today, Tuesday, that Iraqi legal institutions possess discretion in the field of preparing draft laws.
A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: “Minister of Justice, Khaled Shawani, met with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Al-Budaiwi, and during the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Iraqi institutions and institutions of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, especially those concerned with judicial, legal, and human rights files, and the necessity of “Benefiting from the experiences of others and exchanging experiences.”
The statement added, "Shwani praised the efforts made to hold the international conference on food justice from a human rights perspective and a reminder of the current humanitarian crises that the region is going through, especially the humanitarian crisis that the Gaza Strip is going through as a result of the Zionist aggression and its killing and displacement of millions of people in the Strip, leaving them homeless." Which caused severe human suffering without food or medicine.”
The minister highlighted, according to the statement, “the solidity of Iraqi legal institutions and their rich history in the field of preparing draft laws.”
The statement continued, "The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Al-Budaiwi, affirmed his desire to strengthen mutual relations, joint work, construction, and development of relations in order to improve the lives of the peoples of the region and achieve comprehensive and sustainable development, and stressed the depth of his relationship and communication with Iraq."[/size]
