    Member of the Change Movement, Julie Asaad, confirmed today, Saturday (March 2, 2024), that the repeated violations in the territory of the Kurdistan Region and the rest of Iraq are an explicit and clear targeting of Iraqi sovereignty.
    Asaad said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The repeated Turkish violations during the past days in Dohuk, Nineveh, and Sulaymaniyah came due to Iraqi preoccupation with issues of conflict with the United States and political differences," pointing out that "Turkey took advantage of this matter."
    He added that "Turkey's clear violation of Iraq's sovereignty is a violation of all customs and laws," stressing that "the solution is to expel Turkish military bases from the regions of the region as they are a foreign force like the American forces, in addition to activating the government's role in lifting A complaint in the Security Council against Ankara.”
    From time to time, Turkish forces launch military operations in northern Iraq, through which they say they target sites of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which Ankara classifies as a terrorist organization.
    The Turkish newspaper Hurriyet said on Monday (January 15, 2024) that Turkish forces will not leave the areas where they are stationed in northern Iraq and Syria, where they are fighting against the PKK.
    The Turkish Air Force is conducting air operations in northern Iraq and Syria after nine soldiers were killed in an attack by militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, banned in Turkey. 
    Hurriyet newspaper reported, citing sources, that the United States recently provided PKK fighters with weapons, ammunition and intelligence information, and is waging a “war of attrition” against Ankara.
    The newspaper added: “The process of updating and implementing the plan to eliminate and uproot terrorism, which was successfully implemented against the PKK and ISIS, will continue. The strategy of eliminating PKK and ISIS terrorism outside our borders will be strengthened and continued. There is no such thing as abandoning our temporary bases. He wants "The PKK wants Turkey to abandon these bases. It believes that abandoning the base areas will be beneficial for it. From a military standpoint, there are no changes. Our base areas will be strengthened. These areas will be cleared of terrorists."
    The armed conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party began in Turkey in 1984 and resumed in 2015. There are PKK bases in northern Iraq, and there the Turkish armed forces carry out air and ground operations against the headquarters of this party.
