Shafaq News/ Abdul Rahman Al-Jazairi, a member of the State of Law coalition led by Nouri al-Maliki, announced on Wednesday that he was seeking to have the governors of Diyala, Diwaniyah, and Karbala be part of the coalition.
Al-Jazairi told Shafaq News Agency, “The state of law nominated a second, far-from-controversial figure to lead Diyala Governorate instead of Muthanna Al-Tamimi, and this is the opinion of the Diyala public as well, and not just the opinion of the state of law.”
He added, "As for Karbala, it is not far off for a change to occur there, as the state of law was entitled to, and the framework was agreed upon in this regard, but it was not adhered to, which is by bringing in new governors, as the members of the provincial council began meeting and decided to appoint governors as they pleased, and this is “It is incorrect and contrary to the constitution and the paper that was agreed upon.”
He explained, “There is also a change in Diwaniyah Governorate, and this is what was agreed upon, and that the vision of the state of law is to change the governors of Diyala, Diwaniyah, and Karbala, as what happened is contrary to the constitution, as the governorate council session was held by marginalizing candidates deserving of victory, and they may change the leadership of the governorate in question, but "These candidates have been marginalized."
He stated, “The division of the governorates, except for Kirkuk and the western governorates (Anbar, Salah al-Din, and Nineveh), was not interfered with by the state of law, but in the last meeting with the framework, we emphasized the amendment, which is a necessity.”
