Governor of Nineveh, Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil, reassured the people and components of the Nineveh Plain that the project to expand the basic design of the city of Mosul does not target demographic change.
Al-Dakhil told Al-Sabah, followed by Mawazine News, that the project to expand the basic design of Mosul does not aim to change the owner, but rather ensures the reorganization of the area, the provision of services in it, and its development for the better.
The Governor of Nineveh recently signed a contract with an Italian company to modernize and expand the basic design of the city of Mosul after problems that lasted for more than two decades.
The project aims to expand the city by 7 km in all directions and provides 160 thousand dunams of land on which large projects and infrastructure will be built that will serve the city and all components of Nineveh.
In turn, Representative Waad Al-Qaddo, representing the network component, stressed that the network forces adhered to their previous position of rejecting the inclusion of the Nineveh Plain areas in the project to expand the basic design of the city of Mosul. Al-Qaddu confirmed Al-Shabak’s solid position towards the project to expand the administrative borders of the city of Mosul towards the Nineveh Plain, pointing out that the signatures of members of the Nineveh Future Bloc will be collected to present this issue to the Provincial Council, and then a vote will be taken not to include the Nineveh Plain in this expansion, according to what was approved in the Federal Court. And what is stated in the Constitution.
The basic design of Mosul has faced problems and political tensions for more than two decades due to opposition to its implementation by some politicians in the Nineveh Plain regions on the grounds that the project will contribute to demographic change in their regions.
While the representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Shirwan Al-Dobardani, saw that the components of Nineveh are looking forward to developing and developing the governorate.
He continued that the Democratic Party supports any project that serves citizens and Nineveh Governorate with its various districts, districts, complexes and villages.
Al-Dobardani pointed out the importance of taking into account the specificity of the Nineveh Plain region and its social and cultural composition, and the necessity of guaranteeing the rights of all parties in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and Article
