Khalidi warns of demographic change due to foreign labor

BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
The head of the parliamentary bloc of parliamentarians Mohammad al-Khalidi on Saturday called on the government and parliament to issue an urgent decision on foreign workers in the country, warning of a demographic change in the country because of them.
"The numbers of foreign workers and foreign labor rates in the international companies are frightening and they need a serious stand to prevent the increasing number of unemployed and the loss of the hard currency outside the country," Khalidi said in a statement.
"The government and the parliament are demanding a binding decision by the private sector companies to employ Iraqi manpower and prevent the entry of foreign workers in a strict manner," Khalidi said.
"The continued influx of foreign workers in the country will cause demographic changes in the country and will lead to the collapse of society and its values because of unemployment and the lack of fair employment opportunities despite the Iraqi right to receive his share of the budget and the private sector."
