    Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Friday (June 21, 2024), member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Saeed Mammo Zaini, denied that his party caused the postponement and postponement of the holding of the Kurdistan Parliament elections.
Mamo Zaini said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the Kurdistan Democratic Party is the party that most called for holding elections for the Kurdistan Parliament and the necessity of the parliament’s existence as a legislative and oversight institution.”
Momo Zini added, "The Democratic Party's popularity has not changed and it is still the largest party in the region," pointing out that "we believe that the number of our seats will increase than before, and we have constantly called for the necessity of holding elections."
He pointed out, "Even our previous objection was to the lack of quota seats and the division of districts, and we did not boycott because of our desire to postpone at all."
On Monday (June 10, 2024), member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Sherzad Hussein, revealed the details of his party’s return to participate in the Kurdistan Parliament elections, and the conditions that were met that prompted him to abandon the boycott’s opinion.
Hussein said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “some of the requests and conditions that we had were met, most notably the return of the quota seats, as we were demanding fairness to the components of the region and their right to have representatives in the Kurdistan Parliament.”
He added, "The return of the Democratic Party to participate after pledges from the State Administration Alliance and also from the Commission to hold sound elections in a professional and transparent manner, far from political and external interference, and the presence of the Democratic Party will give momentum to the elections."
