    A number of representatives revealed, today, Saturday, a "major scandal" within the House of Representatives regarding amending the Passport Law, while they indicated the pursuit of withdrawing the law.

    The representative said[url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/581365204/%D8%AD%D9%8A%D8%AF%D8%B1 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B7%D9%8A%D8%B1%D9%8A/ar/]Haider Al-Mutairi[/url]In a press conference held today with a number of members of parliament, which was attended by[url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/133473/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A9 %D9%86%D9%8A%D9%88%D8%B2/ar/]Alsumaria News[/url]"There is a parliamentary rejection of amending the passport granting law, as the granting of a diplomatic passport is linked to diplomatic positions and public positions of a sovereign nature, and ends with the completion of the procedures for that position," he said, indicating that "the move to amend the passport granting law includes keeping the diplomatic passport by those who hold those positions and their families for life."


     
    He added that "the amendment goes beyond that by granting this privilege to retirees who held diplomatic positions and their spouses after 2003 retroactively," noting that "the House of Representatives' move to amend this law contradicts the principles of social justice, which require achieving equality in dealings between citizens and officials."
     
    He asked, "What is the purpose of granting a diplomatic passport for life, and what is the purpose and justification for continuing this privilege for their families for life?" Noting, "We record our rejection and objection to this amendment to the passport law included in today's session."
     
    He stressed, "We will seek to withdraw the law through the support of some representatives," noting that "signatures have been collected to withdraw the law."
