The Ishraqat Kanun parliamentary bloc stated that it supports amending the “Right to Access Information” law, and that the law cannot pass in its current form because it includes clauses that restrict rights.

Member of the bloc, Nofoud Al-Moussawi, stated in an interview with "Al-Sabah" that "the Right to Information Law is still in the Parliamentary Culture Committee and other supporting committees, and in its current form it is difficult to pass it and it contains many paragraphs that restrict and do not liberate the right to information." She added that "there are a number of MPs who oppose the law, and we are seeking to amend its paragraphs."

She added that “most of the articles included in the law restrict the right to obtain information - especially in journalistic work - and that among these paragraphs is that if there is a specific issue that you want to obtain information about, the procedures begin by submitting a request to the committee and the committee decides on the matter within 15 days and this cycle continues until the information is provided, and this is among the indicators that indicate that there is a restriction on information, in addition to many routine matters within
the law".
She pointed out that "there must be paragraphs in the law that allow journalists the right to obtain information and the right to protect it and their personal protection so that the journalist can work in a transparent manner."
